James Anderson has admitted going through phases of self-doubts after he was released by Lancashire after a record-breaking wicket-taking season. He said he has questioned whether there was ‘something wrong with me as a person’, by connecting the Lancashire push to his forced retirment from England Test team after then coach and captain, Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes, told him he was no longer in their plans.
The 44-year-old represented his boyhood club Lancashire for 25 years, captining the side in the 2026 County Championship and taking 50 wickets at an average of 17. However, Lancashire continued to struggle in Division Two.
